Team Too Easy Tay-Sachs Research

During the fall semester 2010 at Michigan State University, Team Too Easy researched both biological and sociological aspects of infantile Tay-Sachs disease.

The team designed a PCR assay to detect the 1278insTATC mutation causing infantile Tay-Sachs in hopes of aiding the reliability of prenatal testing.  Additionally, each member experienced one of the common handicaps associated with Tay-Sachs disease to obtain a better understanding of the degree of debilitation each handicap has on the diseased.
